Особняк на болотах

The House on the Marshes

C1 · Advanced · fiction · 10 scenes · Premium story

An advanced Victorian Gothic tale told in a period memoir voice. A Russian governess arrives at a Yorkshire manor with a locked east wing, a pale ward who seats her dolls facing the wall, and a singing that comes off the marshes on November nights. The rules of the Gothic are played straight, but what haunts Marsh Hall is grief that was never allowed to mourn.
